Housed in a magnificent period floral encrusted gesso decorated giltwood frame
Signed lower left "-Chabas-", titled on presentation plaque "Happy New Year - Chabas", there is some confusion in that the artist the painting with an "S" that looks like a "D" and the plaque signifies the "S", but neither indicates the artists first name. Paul Emile Chabas is known to have done formal portraits which this is inline with. SIZE: 48-1/2" x 33-1/2". Overall: 61-1/4" x 46" PROVENANCE: From a coastal Maine collection CONDITION: Very good restored condition with minor areas of touch-up, lined 52553-13 AKL (4,000-6,000)
