LOUIS VUITTON STEAMER TRUNK.

Late 19th-early 20th century, France. A large example of typical form, fully fitted with removable, fabric-lined drawers. The lid with quilted interior retaining the original label noting only two retail locations in Paris and London, the stenciled serial number still visible: 162103. Trunk retains original locks in operational order, original carrying handle still present. SIZE: 22-1/2" h x 43" w x 22" d. PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine. CONDITION: Trunk remains structurally sound, significant soiling and abrasions to exterior. The fitted interior trays present, key is absent. Most notable deterioration to cover of trunk along lower 2" of perimeter. Fair to good overall. 52714-21 HMG (1,500-2,500)
