ROCOCO REVIVAL MINIATURE PAINTED VITRINE WITH GILT METAL MOUNTS.Early 19th century, France. The miniature vitrine with sloping top centering a clear glass panel within a gilt-brass surround, within a satinwood frame paint-decorated with delicate floral sprays, opening to a silk lined display well. The apron with bombe sides, each decorated in the Vernis Martin taste and style. The whole raised on cast-brass cabriole legs with foliate moldings, C-scrolls and gilt cartouches terminating in cast-brass sabots; all on exaggerated grand scale. SIZE: 13-1/2" h x 7" w x 7" d. CONDITION: Surfaces original, the case sides with old stabilized shrinkage cracks and filler. Gilt bronze frame with good un-touched surface. 19th century silk liner soiled and deterioration, but remains serviceable. 52874-6 HMG (1,000-1,500)
