CASED 85 PIECE STERLING FLATWARE SET BY CROSBY, MORSE & FOSS ALONG WITH 12 SHREVE, CRUMP & LOW STERLING SPOONS AND CARVING FORK.The set consisting of twelve 7-1/2" forks, twelve 6-3/4" forks, twelve 8-1/2" spoons, fifteen 5-3/4" teaspoons, ten solid silver 8" knives, twelve sterling hollow handled 9" knives with stainless blades, and twelve 9-1/2" sterling hollow handled knives with stainless blades. Each piece having a monogram "MSD" (probably Maria Susanna Decatur, fifth generation Decatur) and dated on reverse 1874. Mahogany fitted case with heavy duty brass bale handles, lock with key. Along with twelve 7" spoons monogrammed "MMD" by Shreve, Crump & Low, and an 11" meat fork. Weighable silver (no hollow handle knives): approximately 118 troy oz. SIZE: As noted above. PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine.
