BLACK FOREST WALNUT CARVED STAG'S HEAD.Last quarter 19th century, Switzerland. This very fine example of a buck with 8-point antlers mounted on a carved linden frame of the period. The backboard carved with simulated bark and rocky outcrops. A small carved head of a doe proper left side near base. The frame carved of simulated tree branches. SIZE: 26" h x 17" w. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Very fine original condition, retaining original surface. Three points on antlers appear to be reattached with additional coloring. Surfaces otherwise original and untouched with rich dark patina. Very good overall. 52806-3 HMG (800-1,200)
