BLACK FOREST CARVED LINDEN MANTEL CLOCK.Late 19th century, Bavaria with spring driven, 8-day French brass movement by "JAPY FRERES". The case surmounted by two mountain goats on a rocky outcrop above the carved dial with floral rosette and indigo enamel chapter ring with white enamel Roman numerals. The dial flanked by carved leaves above a pair of young mountain goats on rock work centering a fern above a grotto joined to a conforming walnut plinth with molded edge. The clock is accompanied by an original brass fob pendulum. SIZE: 18" h x 11" w x 6" d. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Case retains early if not original surface with rich dark brown patina. No restoration or damage is noted. The spring driven brass movement, striking a on a gong, appears functional and in need of cleaning and adjustment. Otherwise, good overall. 52806-116 HMG (800-1,200)
