CHIPPENDALE STYLE BENCH MADE MAPLE SLANT LID DESK.20th century American. The rectangular dovetailed case with sloping hinged lid opening to an interior fitted with valenced pigeon holes alternating with fan carved document drawers above lopers and fitted with four graduated long drawers with thumb molded edges. Raised on a molded base with shaped bracket feet and scalloped returns. SIZE: 40" h x 30" case width x 17" d. PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Original surface now dry and in need of re-polishing. Minimal loss to 1" section thumb molded edge at top of lid. Old shrinkage crack proper right side of top now stable.
