LOT OF AFRICAN AND NATIVE AMERICAN ITEMS INCLUDING: FOUR NATIVE AMERICAN BASKETS, THREE BOOKS, AND TWO AFRICAN COWRY SHELL AND BEAD WORK LADY'S DANCE ORNAMENTS.1) 1st quarter 20th century. Lot includes; One 8" x 8" Piute polychrome bird in basket. Two Piute basketry pitch covered water bottles, larger 11" x 14", smaller 12" x 9" has braided horsehair carrying straps. Late 19th century, 12-1/2" x 13-1/2" Eskimo covered woven in grass with minimal design. Along with three Native American reference books. 2) 1st half 20th century. Composed of cowry shells with pony beads and hide fringe dyed red. SIZE: 1) As noted above. 2) : 42" l x 14" h (including fringe). 47" l x 12" h (not including fringe). CONDITION: 1) Piute, finely woven, near mint condition. Water bottles, both good. Eskimo has detached lifting handle on top, various in-use wear on edge, stitch loss. 2) Good, minor ornamentation loss, minor fringe loss, minor breaks in bead work. 52891-1 JLB (600-800)
