GROUP OF FOUR NAVAJO BLANKETS.First half 20th century, United States. 1) Double saddle blanket depicting three interlocking rows of square design in earth tones of browns and greys within a coffee-brown outer border. 2) Storm pattern blanket with double edge sawtooth design in shades of brown with a coffee-brown center and border. 3) Saddle blanket with central post with square ends, two triangular designs at one end, mustard-yellow pattern squares at opposing end and green tassels on all corners. 4) Storm pattern blanket. The central device in shades of brown on a grey field, each corner tied with tassel. SIZE: 1) 3' 2" x 6' 3". 2) 3' 2" x 4' 2". 3) 2' 8" x 4' 1". 4) 2' 8-1/2" x 4' 4". PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine. CONDITION: 1) Generally very good. Some pulling at ends. 2) Generally good, minor spotting. Minor separation at seams. Minor pulling to central devices. 3) Moderate stains through center. Spotting overall. Light soiling throughout, otherwise good. 4) Overall light spotting. Light soiling commensurate with age, otherwise very good. 52714-109 hmg (500-800)
