FINE AND RARE M. OHMER'S SONS CO. AMBERG PATENT STATIONERY FILING CABINET.Late 19th century, Dayton, Ohio. The rectangular case with guilloche molded cornice above the frieze affixed with the original maker's label above a bank forty-eight stationery drawers. Each mounted with original brass handle with thumb switch, which may be used to roll slot doors up and to hold individual slots open. The cabinet atop a molded plinth. Fashioned from quarter sawn oak, the case sides paneled. SIZE: 69" h x 38" w x 18-1/2" d. PROVENANCE: This cabinet originally in the York County, Maine Superior Court House. It was one of the few pieces of furniture to survive the fire of 1947. CONDITION: Cabinet professionally refinished with well polished surfaces. The cabinet retains absolutely no trace of fire damage, neither visible nor does it retain any odor. Original brasses lightly burnished. Original label intact with only slight discoloration.
