CARVED ROUND MAHOGANY CLAWFOOT BANQUET TABLE.Late 19th-early 20th century, America. The circular top above a foliate carved apron joined to a columnar ring-turned central pedestal on a platform base with incurved sides, raised on large carved claw feet headed by scrollwork. The pedestal splitting when table is extended, revealing a central cylindrical leg for additional support. Foliate carved apron of scrolling leaf tips. Table is accompanied by four original 11" leaves. SIZE: 28-1/2" h x 54" dia (closed), 98" fully extended. PROVENANCE: By descent through the family of Major John Mead Gould. CONDITION: Retains remnants of original surface, now scrubbed on top. Top locking mechanism needs adjusting but functional. Retains original casters. No repairs or restoration noted. Table with normal and expected in-use wear. Structurally good overall. 52936-3 HMG (800-1,200)
