PAIR OF THOS. MOSER CHERRY BOW-BACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIRS TOGETHER WITH A STICKLEY CHERRY FAN-BACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIR.Late 20th century, New York and Maine. The pair of Moser armchairs with oak spindles and shaped cherry saddle seats, raised on splayed, swelled, cylindrical legs. Beneath each seat is signed "Thos. Moser Cabinetmaker, Auburn ME" and both dated 1988, one chair being made by Scott Davis and the other chair marked the same but made by Jeannie Crane, with both makers' signatures in pencil. The Stickley fan-back armchair of dramatic form and oversized with typical shaped crestrail and scrolled ears, raised on nine cylindrical spindles. The curved medial stretcher continuing to paddle-form arms above the shaped saddle seat, raised on splayed, baluster-turned legs joined by a conforming H-form stretcher. The Stickley armchair with the original Leopold Stickley label reading "Cherry Valley Stickley, Fayetteville, New York" and branded "STICKLEY". SIZE: Moser armchairs: 41" h (back), 18" h (seat) x 24" w. Stickley armchair: 47" h (back), 17" h (seat) x 28" w. PROVENANCE: From an unreserved Corea, ME collection. CONDITION: All chairs retain original, untouched surface with slight normal and expected wear and with good color and patina. Very good overall. 52885-18 HMG (800-1,200)
