FINE AND UNUSUAL CAST-IRON WHIPPET UMBRELLA STAND.Second half 19th century, England by Coalbrookdale Company. This nicely cast example featuring an animated seated whippet on a scrolled tripod cabriole leg pedestal, joined by three scallop-shell-form pans, the end pans set within cast frames. Stamped "C B DALE CO" on proper right side of pedestal beneath hind leg of dog. SIZE: 30" h x 25" w x 17-1/2" d. CONDITION: Umbrella stand retains old unpainted surface with natural patination and dark tea-brown coloration. Original umbrella holders, once fastened at dog's neck, now absent.
