INLAID MATCHSTICK TRAMP ART BANK.Late 19th or early 20th century, probably England. This well made example, with matchstick design in the form of reverse trapezoids creating a random effect of triangles, centering an eight-pointed yew wood inlaid star, all within yew crossbanding. The center of the top cut with a coin receptacle. SIZE: 6-1/2" h x 6" w x 6-1/4" d. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Surfaces with original varnish or shellac. Top somewhat dried in need of repolish. Otherwise very good. 52806-196 HMG (300-500)
