GROUP OF FOUR CHAIRS TOGETHER WITH PAIR OF MAHOGANY STANDS.19th-20th century American. The group comprised of 1) a transitional Queen Anne side chair with arched crest rail and backswept ears above a vasiform splat. Trapezoidal overupholstered seat on chamfered molded square legs joined by a box stretcher. 2) A Chippendale mahogany ribbon back side chair with pierced slats above a trapezoidal overupholstered seat raised on chamfered and molded square legs joined by an H-form stretcher. 3) A child's Victorian bobbin-turned side chair, the back with conforming posts and turnings joined to the overupholstered seat with needlepoint cover raised on bobbin-turned legs. 4) A Sheraton transitional mahogany sabre leg side chair with foliate carved back centering a tablet. The trapezoidal seat frame with needlepoint covering. 5) A pair of Chippendale style oval mahogany kettle stands, each with scalloped gallery and candle slide, raised on delicate square tapered legs with cuffs. SIZE: Height of chairs ranging from 30-1/2" to 36-1/2". Stands 26" h x 14-1/2" w x 11-1/2" d. PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine. CONDITION: All retain original surface showing normal and expected wear, chair seats all good to very good, child's chair with loss of knop to one finial. 52714-10 HMG (400-600)
