SHERATON CARVED MAPLE AND PINE PINEAPPLE FOUR POST BED.Second quarter 19th century, New England. The bed comprised of four carved and turned posts, each with large pineapple finial above acanthus leaves. The posts ring- and baluster-turned raised on swelled ring turned legs. The headboard with scrolling crest rail and rolled ears. The head and foot boards joined by original square wood rails. The bed is accompanied by custom made box spring and mattress. This bed is 3/4 size. SIZE: 51" h x 56" w (overall) x 80" l (overall), 48" w (interior) x 72" l (interior). PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: With old mellow finish and honey-brown patina. Small repair to one ear of headboard. Very good overall. 52806-146 HMG (200-400)
