GROUP OF ASSORTED DECORATIVE OBJECTS.Late 19th and 20th century. The group comprised of: a pair of brass yard sticks mounted on mahogany strips, stamped with the maker's name "J. Rabone & Sons, Birmingham / Made in England / No. 1320"; a whimsical folk art carved knife-form memento, carved from yew, engraved and decorated on both sides, the hilt carved with conjoined Gs, also carved "THE THORN THAT BROKE MY LEG 1880. 12. 5." along the blade, the reverse carved with a fox head in low relief with cross-hatched carving on handle, the blade carved with a pair of fox hunting horns centering a pair of crossed fox tails over a log; a carved walnut sculpture of a nude woman with draped robe, signed on the bottom in script "Venus de Modern S. Nisson"; a pair of concrete candlesticks mounted with pebbles, signed "Kym Nicolas 1994"; a small wood carving of a man in overalls chasing a pig; and a stein fashioned from a tree segment with branch handle and decorated with applied twigs. SIZE: Size ranging from 3" h x 4-1/4" w (pig statuette) to 37-3/4" long (mounted yard sticks). PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT.
