WAR OF 1812 POWDER HORN "LIBERTY OR DEATH".Fine 14" horn with central motto "LIBERTY OR DEATH" carved in 5" panel. Raised base of horn carved with "JAMES MCANE 1808". Horn is also engraved with folk art, Masonic emblem, geometric and animal motifs. SIZE: PROVENANCE: An extraordinary private estate collection of a distinguished Virginia gentleman. CONDITION: Very good overall. Designs easily read with staining and light cosmetic insect damage. Wood plug has iron staple and nicely carved sunburst.
