TWO CIVIL WAR ERA WOODEN DRUM CANTEENS.Mid-19th century, Southern United States. The first a pine example with two iron bands and original leather strap, along with wooden spout. Scratch carved on face "J J MARSHALL / 33rd", believed to be Confederate Army. The second in yellow pine, with two iron bands. Unmarked. SIZE: First 7" dia, second 7-1/2" dia. CONDITION: The first with general overall shrinkage on seams. Faces intact with undisturbed surface. With leather strapping missing an 8" section and stopper absent. The second with absent leather strap, spout, and plug. Faces intact. Both canteens in otherwise good condition. 52875-10 HMG (1,500-2,500)
