JOURNAL OF A CRUISE, UNITED STATES FRIGATES CONSTELLATION, POTOMAC AND DELAWARE, 1841-1843.This large bound folio measuring 13" x 8-1/4" contains 328 pages of day-by-day accounts commencing October 27, 1841 at the Boston Navy Yard, ending January 31, 1843 in Rio de Janiero, "52 days from New York". Day-by-day accounts on the trip to the Brazilian coast for duty and in American ports are seen in several pages on-line. This journal is signed by Midshipman Robert B. Storer (1800-1875) who was his father's, Captain George Washington Storer, clerk. Note: in the 1846-47 journal also being offered in this sale, was also written by Robert B. Storer and Julia's sold his 1844-45 journal February 5, 2010 as Lot 2082. SIZE: CONDITION: Very good. Journal has soiled edges, but signatures are tight, pages are clean with easily discerned text, heavy edge wear, scuffing to 3/4 leather binding. 52737-3 JGS (3,000-6,000)
