GOLD STEPHEN DECATUR MEMORIAL LOCKET WITH "LOCK OF HAIR".

Family tradition is that the large curl of hair inside this hinged, oval locket is that of Commodore Decatur's. Decatur's monogram "SD" found on obverse of case and reverse has presentation dated Jan. 14, 1876 from John Decatur's son's wife "Anna Rowell Philbrick Decatur to her grandson Stephen Decatur Mayo, "S.D.M. from A.R.P.D". SIZE: 1-1/2" x 1-1/8". PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine.
