ARCHIVE OF ITEMS FROM VICE-ADMIRAL MORTON L. DEYO.This small archive of items were from the office and desk of Vice-Admiral Morton L. Deyo (1887-1973). They include desk nameplate "Vice- Admiral/Morton L Deyo, a 1948 presentation metal submarine model from the Portsmouth Naval Yard employees, a wooden cannon model measuring 15" overall on carriage with his name painted which appears to date probably at the time of his graduation from the U S Naval Academy in 1911. There is also a framed 9" x 6" photograph of Deyo in uniform at the Academy, presentation silver and crystal mounted ashtray inscribed with his retirement date "May 7, 1953", a sterling silver napkin ring inscribed "to Deyo" with the names of the 22 naval vessels he was assigned up to WWII, starting with his first service on the battleship "USS Virgina" and ending with the "USS Tuscaloosa" from where Deyo commanded troops during landing operations on D-Day. Also included in archive is a naval signal flag, and a couple of calling cards. Also included is a King George VI signed Distinguished Service Order to Rear Admiral Deyo, signed November 20, 1944, framed photograph of Eisenhower and Deyo, and several items concerning the commissioning of the destroyers "USS Decatur" and the "USS Deyo". Presentation Sheffield box containing about 40 bronze tokens commemorating the christening of the "USS Deyo" at Pascagoula, Mississippi in 1979 and three souvenir hats from the christening. A 50" x 60" banner "USS Deyo DD-989". A destroyer tie clip marked 59 and a small round pin "USS Deyo DD-989". Presentation box (6" h x 17" l x 7" d) with christening bottle for the christening of Deyo (DD-989) March 31, 1979. A 13" x 9-1/2" shield shaped plaque from the christening ceremony of the Deyo (DD-989). Accompanied by a folder concerning the christening ceremony of Deyo DD-989 including photographs. SIZE: PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine.
