IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVAL DIRK.This was a souvenir from WWII of Vice-Admiral Morton L. Deyo. This is a traditional Japanese naval dirk with simulated ray skin grip, gilded brass mounts with traditional Sakura blossoms and thin tanto-style blade with fuller. 16" overall with 9" blade. SIZE: PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Brass has been cleaned with traces of old gilt. Blade is fairly bright overall and quite sharp and appears possibly hand made though tang is unsigned. 52714-175 JGS (300-500)
