ENGLISH STERLING SILVER INK STAND.This piece, made from an oval tray/soup plate (London, 1794, maker's mark "PP"), has two gadroon decorated side handles, three circular holders which have been affixed to the bottom of the platter, all supported by four ball-and-claw foot legs. There are two cut glass clear inkwells, each having a removable sterling silver top (London, 1808, with blurred maker's mark). The center holds a sterling silver handled chamberstick (London, maker's mark "HBS?") with removable bobeche and candle snuffer. Silver weight: 46 troy oz. SIZE: 4-1/2" h x 17" w with handle x 9-1/2" d. PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine, descendant of Commodore Stephen Decatur (1779-1820), Captain John Pine Decatur (1786-1832), and Vice Admiral Morton Deyo (1887-1973). Also Descending from the Ten Eyke and Mayo Families. CONDITION: The piece is made up of differing parts, the tray having a repair to 1" of the border, the glass inkwells have small base chips, the candlestick has a dent to the bottom foot. 52714-133 WAG (600-900)
