FINE CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY WING CHAIR.Third quarter 18th century, probably Massachusetts. The rectangular back with arched crest rail joined to pronounced ogival wings continuing to outscrolled arms, incurved supports centering trapezoidal seat frame, fitted with cushion. Raised on chamfered square frontal legs and chamfered backswept rear legs all joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 45-1/2" h (back), 15" h (seat) x 37" w (overall) x 34" deep (overall). PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine. CONDITION: Structurally sound with tight frame.
