HEPPLEWHITE WALNUT CHEST OF DRAWERS.First half 19th century, probably Virginia. The rectangular top with molded edge above the conforming case, fitted with four graduated long drawers with thumb molded edges, raised on outswept delicate French feet with shaped and scalloped undulating apron. SIZE: 34" h x 31-1/2" w (29-3/4 case) x 21-1/2" d. PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine. CONDITION: Chest remains structurally original, minor chip losses to feet, stable seam shrinkage cracks on case sides, oval brasses are of period but later additions to this chest. Good color and patina, yellow pine secondary to drawers. Top with light to moderate staining proper left front corner. 52714-18 HMG (800-1,200)
