TWO SHERATON MAHOGANY TILT TOP CANDLESTANDS.Second quarter 19th century, New York and New England. The first with single board figural top with molded edge and inset corners, hinged and tilting on a double vasiform ring-turned pedestal raised on a spider leg tripod base. The second with a round mahogany gallery top with reeded edge, hinged and tilting on a ring-turned urn form support raised on a spider leg tripod base with reeded edge terminating in ball feet. SIZE: (1) 28" h x 20" w x 22" d. (2) 28" h x 22" dia. PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine. CONDITION: The first table retains original surface with dark color and undisturbed patina, chips to elements of pedestal base, and repair to support block of pedestal. The second with original surface and with moderate soiling to top, 1" loss to reeded gallery edge at mid-point, one leg broken at juncture to standard, reattached and reinforced with screw now stable, and a small rectangular patch to underside of top. 52714-6 HMG (1,200-1,800)
