LOT OF SIX LARGE FRAMED CIVIL WAR SOLDIER PHOTOGRAPHS, ALL WITH WEAPONS.1) Large format tintype 7" x 5" mounted with oval mat, ID'd on verso "Lucius C. Cole / Company G, 184th New York, died July 16, 1914, buried at Daysville". Archive records show Lucien C. Cole, Company G 184th NY being promoted to Corporal September 16, 1864. Cole is holding an early model 1853 Enfield musket with bayonet, and wearing US belt with eagle breastplate clearly showing on his cross belt and a Colt pistol in his belt. 2) Full plate tintype with about 8-1/4" x 6-1/4" exposed of unknown, possibly Confederate soldier, holding a Whitney revolver across his breast and wearing a fancy dress Bowie knife in his belt. 3) Full plate tintype of US infantryman with Springfield musket, cartridge box, cap box, belt and cross-belt holding what appears to be a Colt Model 1862 police revolver. Backing in frame has a large albumin photograph of "Great Aunt Polly Webber, Sister of Grandpa Nathaniel Webber". Archive records show a Pvt. Nathaniel Webber enlisted October 1, 1861 into Company C, 77th Ohio Infantry and died of disease April 15, 1862 and is buried at the Shiloh National Battlefield Cemetery. 4) Large format tinted 7-1/2" x 5" tintype of full standing infantryman with Springfield musket with bayonet wearing Hardee hat with infantry horn and company letter "E", still wearing his backpack, 9-button frock, cartridge box, belt and over the shoulder strap. 5) Full plate tintype of seated soldier holding Springfield musket with American flag flying in painted background. 6) Full plate tintype of seated cavalryman brandishing cavalry saber and Colt in his belt. Hardee hat at his side has crossed saber insignia. Soldier is wearing a cavalry shell jacket. SIZE: CONDITION: Good to very good overall, though there are several scrapes and scratches to emulsion on image #3. All six images have been framed, several contemporarily that were not removed to check for any possible IDs. 52875-16 JGS (3,000-5,000)
