TWO RARE IDENTIFIED CONFEDERATE QUARTER-PLATE IMAGES.1) Quarter-plate ambrotype of Arthur Cummings, Colonel, 33rd Virginia Stonewall Brigade. Cummings previously served as an officer in the Mexican War and was Brevetted Major for gallantry. In this image, he is wearing a pair of black straps which appear to have Colonel eagles, while holding a saber and 2-piece saber belt which is tinted. 2) Quarter-plate tintype of full standing Confederate soldier purported to be Lyle Corbett, 1839-1862, brother of Samuel Corbett 3rd Mississippi Volunteers, CSA. Corbett is holding musket with bayonet wearing war shirt and slouch hat. SIZE: CONDITION: 1) Good to very good overall with some staining on emulsion and portion of black paint missing on back of image plate. 2) Very good overall with some scuffing at perimeters of emulsion. 52875-20 JGS (3,000-5,000)
