LIEUTENANT GENERAL JAMES G. HARBORD ENGRAVED SILVER CIGAR CASE TOGETHER WITH IMPERIAL ORDER OF THE RISING SUN MEDAL SECOND CLASS.A 2" h x 6" x 9" sterling with wood sectioned interior cigar case marked "Yard / BH / Sterling / 800". The lid having the following inscription surrounded by ten script autographs "Presented to / Major Gen. Jas. G. Harbord / From / The Board of Governors / Of / The Rockefeller Center Luncheon Club / 1938" below which is a script signature "John D. Rockefeller 3rd". Along with a 9" x 4-1/2" lacquered presentation box holding two medals which comprise the Imperial order of the Rising Sun, Second class. The order comprised of a neck badge on ribbon and a breast star. Accompanying the lot is a two page letter dated March 31, 1948 explaining the purpose of the gift that he received it while chairman of the board of the Radio Corporation of America, and that this award was the same type of decoration given to John J. Pershing and was highly regarded by him. Harbord accompanied General John J. Pershing to France in WWI as Chief of staff and upon retirement was chairman of the board of the Radio Corporation of America. SIZE: As noted above.
