INTERESTING ARCHIVAL LOT RELATING TO OBED BAXTER.The lot includes; 11" h x 22" l cast iron gate top "Obed Baxter 1882". 2-3) Framed 13-1/2" h x 11" w tin type of Obed Baxter and a framed 13-1/2" h x 11" w photo of his wife. Each are in period walnut frames behind glass. 4) 11" h x 15" w framed family register. The register printed by Kellogg and Comstock. The entries in pen are for Gage and Nickerson, which relate to the Baxter family through Eleazer A. Nickerson, which this information is provided on the back of Baxter's tin type. 5) An interesting 14" h x 18-1/2" w document dated May 4th, 1875 from Boston, certifying Capt. Obed Baxter admission as member of the Boston Marine Society. The document has engraved vignettes of Marine scenes and a large 8-sided wax seal which is intact. 6) A Victorian walnut framed family record with printed calligraphy type decoration and hand penned family members with births, deaths from the original Obed Baxter and Helen Mar Nickerson. Overall 28" x 24". 7) A photocopy of a New York Times Death notice, February 18, 1884 indicating Captain Obed Baxter died of "chronic trouble" on the voyage. SIZE: CONDITION: Certificates have staining and aging, photographs are good with some staining to mat, cast iron has some rust but generally very good. 6) Foxing, otherwise generally very good. 52902-8 WAG (800-1,000)
