DUTCH MARQUETRY WALNUT BOMBÉ DISPLAY CABINET.Second half 19th century, Holland. In two parts, the shaped molded cornice centering a floral and leaf tip crest above the conforming upper case with mirror back and two fixed glass shelves. Glass panel sides with shaped and molded surrounds. The single door with molded surround. Fitted to the lower case in the form of a chest of drawers with bombe front flanked by bombé angular pilasters raised on scrolled feet centering a shaped apron, all with intricate foliate marquetry. The matched set of brasses, cast with Classical urns decorated with foliate garlands. SIZE: 75-1/2" h x 42" w x 25" d (overall), 15" d (cabinet interior). CONDITION: Fully restored and professionally repolished. Original mirror backing with areas of foxing and some loss to silver backing. All shrinkage cracks stabilized. Cabinet now with French polish surface. Good overall. 52829-84 HMG (2,500-3,500)
