TWO RARE QUEEN ANNE DOUBLE GOFFERING IRONS.18th century, England. The first with baluster-turned shaft beneath two turned barrels for ironing raised on tripod cabriole leg base centering an inverted acorn finial terminating in ridged platform pad feet. The second a tall example with baluster-, urn- and ring-turned iron shaft with a small and larger barrel surmounted by an urn form finial. The shaft adjoined to a tripod cabriole leg terminating in ridged pad platform feet. SIZE: The first: 11-1/2" h. The second: 18" h. CONDITION: Each iron cleaned and buffed, showing minor flecks, nicks, and abrasions from long-term use. With pleasing surfaces. Structurally very good. 52935-6 HMG (2,500-3,500)
