ESA - TWO COCONUT DIPPERS TOGETHER WITH A COCONUT CUP WITH HANDLE.

Third quarter 19th century American. The first dipper with turned, swelled, cylindrical oak handle with pewter inlaid rim depicting two sperm whales centering a bird in flight. The coconut cup of natural form with hollowed interior affixed with a C-scrolled whale bone handle. The second dipper with carved and polished surface carved with a cartouche scrimmed within: "MADE BY JAMES LONG NOV 6 1862". The turned handle of rosewood. The handle joined to the cup by an ivory spacer, and terminating in a polished round ivory knob drilled for a rawhide hanger. SIZE: Dipper: 12-1/4"l. Dipper 13" l. Cup: 3-1/2" dia. CONDITION: All items retain undisturbed surface with very nice patina. The cup with old fissure showing minute separation, otherwise very good. 52893-5 HMG (800-1,200) ESA -
