ESA - TWO FINE CARVED COCONUT CANTEENS, ONE WITH TWO IVORY BEAD "EYES".Late-19th century. The first, a patriotic themed canteen carved in deep relief with military trophy, a vignette of the Constitution beneath American flag with the name "T GORMAN" within a leafy branch and a third vignette of a fraternal crest inscribed "NATIONAL" above a hand extending an olive branch. The second with pewter spout and with pewter inserts to which are attached three brass chains for hanging. The canteen carved overall in low relief with floral rondels and with floral filled urns all within foliate borders. SIZE: First: 5" h. Second 5-1/2" h. CONDITION: The first with fitting for spout; spout now absent, otherwise good. Both with undisturbed, well polished surfaces with dark brown color and natural patina. Very good overall.
