FINE COPPER COD FISH TRADE SIGN.Late 19th/early 20th century New England. This full body example with sheet copper fins, mounted with original linked iron hanging chains. The body comprised of tacked sheets of copper; the fins with crimped edges. Surfaces with original crusty red/brown paint with areas of verdigris on copper where paint is absent. SIZE: 37-3/4" l x 15" h approx. CONDITION: Early, if not original red/brown paint as noted. First anal fin with slight horizontal crease at mid-point. All fins and barbels intact and attached. Hanging chains original. Pleasing original surface with good patina and color. Very good overall. 52861-1 HMG (2,000-3,000)
