FINE WATERCOLOR ON VELVET THEOREM OF FRUIT COMPOSITION.First third 19th century, New England. A large and complex arrangement with numerous types of fruit amidst leafy sprigs on a stepped marble slab. Fruit includes pears, grapes, strawberries, cherries and a cut section of watermelon in the center with a knife present in the foreground. Housed in a birds eye maple frame with gilt liner. SIZE: Sight: 16-1/2" x 22". Overall: 20-1/4" x 25-3/4". CONDITION: Theorem retains vibrant color. Background with general foxing and toning. Veneer losses on side edge of frame.
