FINE EARLY AMERICAN PINE STEPBACK CUPBOARD IN BLUE PAINT.Second quarter 19th century New England. The cupboard with rectangular molded cornice above a pair of four panel doors opening to an interior fitted with three shelves, with original red wash above a medial shelf over a pair of single panel cupboard doors raised on shaped bracket base with scalloped returns. The panels all with inset molded borders. The case sides with recessed panels. Now with pleasing robin's egg blue later surface. SIZE: 75-1/2" h x 54" w x 19-1/2" d. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Structurally very good with appropriate wear throughout. Some of the original red wash visible, the blue paint is new and has been distressed to simulate an old antique finish. Cabinet retains original iron hardware. 52806-76 HMG (3,000-5,000)
