BLACK PAINTED WINDSOR FAN-BACK ARM CHAIRLate 18th century, Nantucket, Massachusetts. Shaped concave crest with simple tapering back spindles, elaborate vase- and-ring-turned side posts, having up-swept scrolling arms above vase- and ring-turned posts centering the pine carved saddle seat. Raised on bulbous baluster-turned splayed legs joined by turned H-form stretcher in black paint. SIZE: 45″ h x 23″ w x 20″ d. CONDITION: Paint surfaces showing evidence of earlier thin multiple coats. Structurally good. No restoration noted. 52896-3 HMG (1,500-2,500)
