FINE PENNSYLVANIA PAINT DECORATED PINE DOWRY CHEST.18th century, Pennsylvania. The rectangular hinged lid with applied molded edge opening to a storage well with lidded till. The dovetailed case decorated with three stylized hearts within a persimmon cartouche with a simulated string inlaid border, the whole with a taupe ground. The molded base in tea-brown paint raised on dovetailed bracket feet with long shaped returns in celadon green. SIZE: 27-1/2" h x 52" l x 22" d. CONDITION: Original painted surface with normal and expected wear and abrasion. Lock original. Wrought-iron hinges are of the period but not original to chest. Feet original. Hinges have been re-set.
