WILLIAM PIERCE STUBBS (American, 1842-1909) PORTRAIT OF THE SCHOONER "HUSTLER".Oil on canvas laid to board scene shows the green and black hulled two mast schooner in full sail sailing right to left past the twin lighthouses of Thatcher Island off Rockport, MA. The central mast has the name pennant and off the top back sail the American flag. Eleven people are seen on deck. Signed lower left "W. P. Stubbs". Housed in a modern gilt frame with linen liner. SIZE: 22" h x 36" w. Overall 25" h x 39" w. CONDITION: Craquelure, restored with significant in-painting. 52624-3 WAG (3,000-5,000)
