RARE AND IMPORTANT GEORGE III CARVED PINE BREAKFRONT BOOKCASE.

Last quarter 18th century England. The rectangular foliate and dentil molded cornice above the three part bookcase, each with single astragal glazed door with mahogany mullions in the Gothic taste fitted to the lower three part cabinet with foliate molded frieze above a single panel door applied with molded borders with inset corners, each corner centering a floral rosette. Joined to, and raised on, a later molded plinth. The bookcase now with adjustable plate glass shelves. Note: the cabinet in seven parts. SIZE: 7' 2" h x 9' 3" w x 20" d. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: All surfaces have been cleaned and repolished over time. The case retaining all its original elements. Plinth a later addition, as noted. The cabinet has electrical fittings for interior lighting. 52806-89 HMG (4,000-6,000)
