UNUSUAL LOUIS PHILIPPE FIGURAL WALNUT WRITING DESK.Mid-19th century France. In two parts, the rectangular top with molded edge, stepped back and fitted with three aligned drawers with molded edge above a molded shelf with cyma curved hinged frieze, hinged and opening to a mechanized drawer fitted with a tooled leather writing surface and scalloped gallery sides, the interior with three aligned stationary drawers. When open, the three upper drawers unlock. All on a conforming table base fitted with three aligned drawers, each with molded edge, raised on ring and spool turned cylindrical molded legs with bell cuffs terminating in suppressed ball feet. SIZE: 44" h x 52" w x 27" d. CONDITION: Desk retains original surface with fine color and patina. Case with polished back panels. Normal and expected in-use wear.
