FINE YEW AND CHESTNUT BOWBACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIR.First quarter 19th century England. Bowed crest rail joined to the mid hoop continuing to tapered pointed paddle grips on incurved supports. The rear spindles alternating with shaped, pierced splats with turned rosettes. The shaped saddle seat of figural elm raised on splayed, turned legs joined by an elliptic box stretcher. SIZE: 40-1/2" h (back), 18" h (seat) x 24-1/2" w. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Well polished surfaces with good color and patina.
