First half 18th century or earlier, Northern Italy. The rectangular giltwood mirror with eight sides, foliate carved in deep relief in the Rococo Florentine style. The mirror plate of conforming size and shape. Note: the back of the frame is affixed with a Italian shipping label and a handwritten letter that discusses the fact that the mirror belonged to a friend in their home in Northern Italy and was removed from the home and given as a gift to this individual in 1934 and that it was shipped back to New York in the United States. SIZE: CONDITION: Mirror with all original surface, original iron brackets for hanging in place, two sheet copper reinforcing strips located at upper proper right rear of frame reinforcing old age splits and original gilding.
