FINE HERIZ RUG.First quarter 20th century, northern Persia. The large blue-black arabesque medallion within a madder red field framed by ivory spandrels with subsidiary madder red device therein, all within a blue-black floral main border and multiple floral guard borders. The whole with dense polychrome saz leaf and floral motif. SIZE: 8' 1" x 11' 5". CONDITION: Rug retains good pile throughout with minor even wear. Strong palate. Losses to fringe into outer guard border at each end. Selvage intact. Some insect damage along perimeter of rug, now inactive. No other restoration or damage noted.
