ESA - SAILOR'S INLAID DITTY BOX.Late 19th/early 20th century, New England. The rectangular box with sliding lid, inlaid overall with hearts, diamonds and stars comprised of whale bone. The box sides, additionally inlaid with rosewood veneer depicting a sperm whale. SIZE: 4-1/2" h x 7-1/2" l x 5-1/2" w. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing", South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Surfaces original and well worn. Inlays intact.
