TWO CARVED AND PAINTED FISH DECOYS, ATTRIBUTED TO OSCAR PETERSON (1887-1951).20th century, Michigan. The first a brook trout, painted in dark green with brown splotches and cut sheet fins and with tack eyes. The second smaller example, in vibrant shades of yellow and orange, with brown spotted highlights along the back with bright orange and yellow fins. SIZE: First: 8-1/2" l. Second: 5-1/2" l. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Painted surfaces original with normal and expected wear. Corrosion on sheet tin fins on first, generally good. 52806-65 HMG (1,000-1,500)
