LARGE LOG CABIN HOOKED RUG.Late 19th century, New England. This fine example with six rows of eight square striated polychrome "logs" set in squares with triangular secondary patterns resulting in a pleasing contrasting effect overall. The rug bordered with a band of brown and black earth tones of abstract design. Now professionally mounted on a stretcher and with linen backing. SIZE: 67-1/2" x 51-1/2". PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Colors remain vibrant. With little or no pulling. Minimal surface soiling. 52806-143 HMG (800-1,200)
