WELL CARVED CAROUSEL HORSE HEAD SCULPTURE.Late 19th century American. The pine head with fully developed carving depicted with flared nostrils and open mouth. Carving retains original glass eyes and iron bridle rings. Bridle originally rendered with glass "jewels", now absent. SIZE: 15-1/2" h x 21" l. CONDITION: Surfaces now with dry, crusty early in-use re-paint. Old chip losses to ears and forelock, also losses and abrasions at base. Laminate joint fissures evident at rear of head and center of mane. Nice, old patina and worn surfaces. Good untouched condition. 52738-16 HMG (1,500-3,000)
